Melinda Richardson finished her interior design training at Mount Royal College. She began her career with Paul Lavoie where much of her sense of style and design developed. Melinda also worked at Abugov Kaspar Architecture firm in their design department and later at Mosaic Interiors, and then Ingenium Design Group. She worked on commercial, health-care, and retail design projects, but it was residential design that brought out her passion. It seemed a natural step from there to work in the home-building industry at Shane Homes. Melinda decided to start her own company, Premise Design, in 2005 working mainly within the residential design field. She is a member of Interior Designer's of Alberta and is now studying to take the NCIDQ examination.
After pursuing and attaining degrees in Art, and Art History at the University of Calgary, Heather Arthurs enrolled in the Interior Design Applied Degree program at Mount Royal College. During this time she worked in a variety of positions within the industry primarily at Walls Alive, The University of Calgary Architecture Department, and Cricklewood Interiors. Upon graduating, she began work as a designer with Mosaic Interiors, and then moved on to Ingenium Design Group. Eventually Heather started her own residential design company called Crimson Interior Design where she worked for 6 years before joining on with Premise Design in 2008.
Together, Melinda and Heather complement each other well. Melinda is very attentive to details while still being able to see the bigger picture of each design. She brings her love of drafting, space planning and analyzing requirements to each job. Heather brings her unique artistic take on each project specializing in pulling together schemes and creating beautiful detailed sketches and drawings. Heather has been beneficial in creating excellent client relations and sharing her enthusiasm for design.Visit the Photo Menagerie for slideshows of work we have done or Get In Touch to contact us for more information.
